A new plumbing system starts long before the first pipe goes into place. It begins with a plan: mapping water supply lines, sizing drain and vent stacks, and matching fixtures to the water pressure and flow your home actually needs. When any of these steps is skipped or rushed, the result shows up later as low pressure, slow drains, or leaks hidden inside walls. That is why plumbing installation deserves careful attention from the very start, and it is the work we take pride in delivering across Garfield, NJ.

Plumbing Installation in Garfield, NJ Done Right the First Time

At First Choice Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical, we approach every installation as a permanent part of your home rather than a quick fix. Whether you are building an addition, renovating a bathroom, or replacing aging pipes throughout an older Garfield house, the quality of the installation determines how the system performs for the next twenty or thirty years. Poorly sized pipes, incorrect slope on drain lines, or improper venting can cause problems that are expensive to correct later.

Our team brings 15 years of industry experience to each project. We have installed plumbing in new construction, in decades-old homes with cast iron piping, and in properties where previous work needed to be corrected. This range of experience means we understand how to work with the materials and layouts common to homes in Garfield, and we know how to plan for the water pressure and municipal supply conditions in the area. Come home to comfort knowing your plumbing was installed by technicians who treat the work as if it were in their own homes.

What Plumbing Installation Involves

Many homeowners think of plumbing installation as simply connecting pipes, but a complete installation covers several distinct systems that must work together. The supply system delivers pressurized water to fixtures and appliances. The drain-waste-vent system carries used water and waste away while allowing air into the pipes so drains flow smoothly. Fixtures and appliances then connect to both systems at the correct points.

Each of these systems has technical requirements. Supply lines must be sized to maintain adequate pressure at every fixture, even when several are used at once. Drain lines require the correct diameter and a consistent downward slope, typically about a quarter inch per foot, so gravity moves waste effectively. Vent pipes must be positioned to prevent trap siphoning, which is what stops sewer gases from entering your home. When we design an installation, we account for all of these details so the finished system operates quietly and reliably.

Common Plumbing Installation Projects We Handle

Our installation work covers a wide range of needs. Some projects are small and focused, while others involve the entire home. The following are among the installations homeowners request most often:

  • Whole-home repiping: Replacing old galvanized steel or worn copper piping with modern copper or PEX to restore water pressure and eliminate leaks and discoloration.
  • Bathroom and kitchen fixture installation: Setting sinks, faucets, toilets, tubs, showers, and garbage disposals with proper connections and secure seals.
  • Water line and drain line installation: Running new supply and drain lines for additions, remodels, or relocated appliances.
  • Appliance connections: Installing water lines for dishwashers, refrigerators with ice makers, washing machines, and other fixtures that draw water.

For each of these projects, we begin with an on-site evaluation. This lets us understand the existing plumbing, identify any complications, and design an installation that fits both your home and your budget. We offer free estimates on installation services, so you know what to expect before any work begins.

Our Installation Process From Start to Finish

We follow a clear, step-by-step process on every installation so nothing is overlooked and you always understand what is happening in your home. The first stage is assessment and planning. A senior technician inspects the area, measures the space, checks water pressure, and reviews how the new plumbing must connect to your existing system. We then explain our recommendations and provide a detailed estimate.

The second stage is preparation. This may include shutting off water supply, protecting your floors and surfaces, and, where needed, opening walls or floors to access existing lines. We take care to keep the work area clean and to minimize disruption to your daily routine. Careful preparation also lets us confirm measurements and catch any hidden issues, such as corroded pipes or previous work that does not meet code, before the new installation goes in.

The third stage is the installation itself. We run and connect supply, drain, and vent lines, set fixtures, and make all connections according to plumbing code. Throughout this stage, we test as we go rather than waiting until the end. The final stage is testing and cleanup. We pressure-test supply lines, check drains for proper flow, inspect for leaks, and verify that every fixture works as it should. Then we clean the work area and walk you through what was done.

Materials and Technical Standards We Rely On

The materials used in an installation directly affect its lifespan and performance. We select materials based on the application, the local water conditions, and long-term durability. Copper remains a proven choice for supply lines because of its resistance to bacteria and its long service life. PEX offers flexibility, resistance to freezing damage, and faster installation in many situations. For drain and vent work, we use PVC and ABS piping sized to code for the fixtures they serve.

We also pay close attention to details that affect performance over time, such as proper pipe support spacing, correct fitting selection, and secure, code-compliant connections. Every installation we complete is designed to meet or exceed applicable plumbing codes, which protects both the function of your system and the value of your home. Our technicians stay current on code requirements and best practices, which is one reason homeowners throughout Garfield, Hackensack, Hasbrough, Lodi, Passaic, Saddlebrook, Edison Township, Hasbrouck Heights, Highland Park, and Woodbridge, NJ rely on us for work that lasts.

We had Alex Dicrosta of First Choice come check our furnace today because it was leaking water when the AC was on. Alex diagnosed the issue quickly that it was a clogged pipe going from the water pump. He unclogged the pipe and confirmed that was the cause of the leak. Alex is extreme knowledgeable, friendly, and customer focused. He even checked the rest of the unit to make sure everything was working properly before he left. I will definitely request Alex the next time I need AC or heating service from First Choice.
